Kids' footwear that respects growing feet

Children's feet are still forming until well into their teens, which is why every shoe in this category has a wide, foot-shaped toe box, a flexible sole that bends where the foot bends, and a secure fastening that holds the heel in place. Rigid, narrow or heavy shoes change how a child walks; ours are built to stay out of the way. First walkers get the softest soles, and school shoes get the most structure — everything in between sits on that scale.

The range covers first-walker leather shoes, velcro school shoes, canvas sneakers, sporty mesh trainers, closed-toe summer sandals, waterproof wellies, chelsea boots, ballet flats, fleece slipper boots and quick-dry beach shoes. Sizes run from EU 19 to EU 34 and each listing shows the internal length in centimetres, which is far more reliable than size labels across brands. Measure your child's longest toe to heel in the afternoon, add 10–12mm of growing room, and match that to the chart.

Materials are chosen for breathability: leather and canvas uppers, cotton or moisture-wicking linings, and cushioned removable insoles you can take out to check fit as feet grow. Outsoles are natural or thermoplastic rubber with a real tread pattern for wet playgrounds. Check fit every eight to ten weeks for under-threes and every three months after that — most children need a new size two or three times a year. Shop footwear below, and remember socks from Accessories affect fit more than parents expect.
